Kindle 2 eBook Reader Review - by eReader Central

Percentage of Americans reading ebooks grows, but they still enjoy print, Pew ...

A new Pew Research Center report shows that the percentage of Americans who have read an ebook continues to rise, which shouldn’t shock anyone.

But the report also indicates that people who read ebooks are also more likely to read printed books, which might confound people who want to see reading behavior as either-or, not both.

The report, “The rise of e-reading,” released Wednesday evening by the Pew Internet & American Life Project, states that 21% of American adults report they have read an ebook during the past year.

Don’t assume, though, that all that reading was done on a dedicated ereading device, such as a Kindle or Nook. Of the survey respondents who had read an ebook during the past 12 months, 42% read it on a computer, 41% on an ebook reader like a Kindle or Nook, 29% on a cell phone and 23% on a tablet computer. (These numbers add up to more than 100% because many respondents indicated they read ebooks on more than one device.)

The thing is though, before you make any snap decisions on which product you should buy based on the price factor alone, make sure that you are looking at all of the features of each product. Know what you are paying for. You will probably learn very quickly that you get what you pay for and that is no different when it comes to eBook copycats.

The Sony e-book reader is quickly making some sales but it is only because some people are not looking deep enough into the product. To start with the most obvious difference between the Kindle 2 e-book reader and the Sony Reader is that the Sony version is cheaper. Kindle 2 retails for $359.00 while the Sony e-book reader is $299.00. For those who consider themselves savvy shoppers, this should make a bell go off in their head. Those who really want to make sure that they are getting their monies worth should look further into the comparison.
